On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed his country\u2019s parliament in his annual address. He summarized Russia\u2019s achievements over the past year, noted the overwhelming domestic support for the special military operation, and warned that Western countries, blinded by Russophobia, want to drag Russia into an arms race.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States is doing everything it can to counter China and Russia to prevent \u201ceconomic inevitabilities,\u201d<\/em> but a multipolar world is rising, Mark Sleboda, an international relations and security expert told Sputnik\u2019s fault lines on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comment came while discussing Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s annual address, which covered domestic and foreign affairs and came two weeks before the Presidential election in Russia. Sleboda noted that Western countries are still attempting to interfere in internal Russian politics, referring to their leaders\u2019 embrace of Yulia Navalnaya. \u201cYou cannot be more interfering in domestic political affairs [than] declaring who the leader of the Russian opposition is and giving her a platform\u2026 it\u2019s beyond the pale [and] is tantamount to political war.\u201d<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the West has continued its domestic propaganda war against Russia even as the message has become increasingly muddled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter [Russia] finishes with Ukraine\u2026 Poland and then a few days after that, Lisbon, and then they\u2019ll be in Peoria,\u201d Sleboda said, describing Western media\u2019s portrayals of Russia\u2019s intentions. \u201cAt the same time [they say] Russia is losing and it\u2019s Nigeria with snow and they\u2019re fighting with shovels,\u2019 on the other hand \u2018Russia is building doomsday weapons in space and it\u2019s about to take over everything.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason for this contradictory propaganda, propping up figures opposed to Putin and the NATO-funded proxy war in Ukraine all stems back to the\u00a0loosening grip of Western countries on the global economy.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cSince 2014, but especially since 2022, Russia\u2019s economy grew faster than the American economy\u2026 there is an argument to be made that in the medium to long term, these [Western] sanctions [on Russia] have made Russia stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe G7 is falling in relative terms of global economic might and BRICS is rising,\u201d Sleboda continued. \u201cA new multipolar world is riding and these are economic inevitabilities. However, the US doesn\u2019t take to competitors well, and they\u2019re doing everything possible \u2013 not just economically but politically and militarily \u2013 to stop, in particular, China and Russia [and] do everything possible to reverse that economic decline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
