The victim\u2019s grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, confirmed his death and his identity in a Wednesday Facebook post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cMy beloved grandson Marco Troper, age 19 passed away yesterday. Our family is devastated beyond comprehension,\u201d Esther Wojcicki said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">She said Troper was \u201cthe most kind, loving, smart, fun and beautiful human being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Berkeley Fire Department responded to the complex and notified the University of California Police Department that it was \u201cattempting life-saving measures\u201d on the student, Gilmore said. By the time campus police arrived, the BFD had pronounced him dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Gilmore said there were no signs of foul play and that an investigation into the death was underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">According to his grandmother, Troper \u201cwas just getting started\u201d in his second semester of freshman year at UC Berkeley, where he was majoring in math \u201cand was truly loving it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Aside from \u201cthriving academically,\u201d Esther Wojcicki said, Troper had a \u201cstrong community of friends,\u201d both from his dorm and his fraternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAt home, he would tell us endless stories of his life and friends at Berkeley,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cMarco\u2019s life was cut too short. And we are all devastated, thinking about all the opportunities and life experiences that he will miss and we will miss together,\u201d Esther Wojcicki said. \u201cMarco, we all love you and miss you more than you will ever know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Esther Wojcicki did not immediately reply to a request for comment from NBC News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Although a cause of death for Troper has not been determined, Esther Wojcicki told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/bayarea\/article\/family-mourns-student-died-uc-berkeley-18672739.php\">SF Gate<\/a>&nbsp;that she believes her grandson died from a drug overdose. She said the family is waiting on the results of a toxicology report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cHe ingested a drug, and we don\u2019t know what was in it,\u201d she told SF Gate, adding: \u201cOne thing we do know, it was a drug.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWe want to prevent this from happening to any other family,\u201d Esther Wojcicki told SF Gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/former-youtube-ceos-son-found-dead-uc-berkeley-rcna139355\">Nbcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 19-year-old son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki was found dead at the University of California, Berkeley, on Tuesday, his grandmother said on Facebook.
