{"id":22771,"date":"2024-01-17T00:04:07","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T06:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=22771"},"modified":"2024-01-17T00:04:11","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T06:04:11","slug":"10-year-old-boy-reportedly-attacked-by-shark-at-bahamas-resort-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=22771","title":{"rendered":"10-year-old boy reportedly attacked by shark at Bahamas resort: Police"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A 10-year-old boy from the United States was reportedly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/stay-safe-shark-attacks-summer\/story?id=55812055\">attacked by a shark<\/a>&nbsp;at a resort in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/alerts\/bahamas\">Bahamas<\/a>, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. local time Monday on Paradise Island, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RBPFPolice\/status\/1747103000353534063\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Preliminary reports indicate that the boy was bitten on the right leg by a shark while participating in an expedition in a Shark Tank at a local resort on Paradise Island,&#8221; the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The boy &#8212; who was visiting from Maryland &#8212; was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said Monday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Investigations are ongoing into the incident,&#8221; police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Authorities did not release the name of the resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In December, a 44-year-old woman from Massachusetts was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/american-woman-killed-shark-attack-bahamas\/story?id=105367250\">killed by a shark<\/a>&nbsp;while paddleboarding in the Bahamas, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Five people were killed worldwide in unprovoked shark attacks in 2022 &#8212; one in the U.S., two in Egypt and two in South Africa &#8212; according to the most recent data available from the Florida Museum of Natural History&#8217;s International Shark Attack File. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/shark-attack-bahamas-resort\/story?id=106426143\">Abcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 10-year-old boy from the United States was reportedly&nbsp;attacked by a shark&nbsp;at a resort in the&nbsp;Bahamas, police said.
