{"id":22387,"date":"2024-01-08T02:06:14","date_gmt":"2024-01-08T08:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=22387"},"modified":"2024-01-08T02:06:21","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T08:06:21","slug":"radio-and-podcast-company-audacy-files-for-bankruptcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=22387","title":{"rendered":"Radio and podcast company Audacy files for bankruptcy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Radio and podcast company Audacy revealed that it filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy Sunday, citing \u201cmacroeconomic challenges\u201d as the reason for its restructuring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Audacy is the home to hundreds of broadcast, sports and podcast shows and is one of the largest radio broadcasters in the country.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forward.audacyinc.com\/announcement\/\"><u>In an\u2002announcement\u2002Sunday<\/u><\/a>, Audacy\u2019s President and CEO David Field revealed that it filed for bankruptcy and that it entered into a restructuring support agreement with a supermajority of its debtholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cOver the past few years, we have strategically transformed Audacy into a leading, scaled multi-platform audio content and entertainment company through our acquisition of CBS Radio and by building leading complementary positions in podcasting, audio networks, live events, digital marketing solutions and our direct-to-consumer streaming platform,\u201d Field said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He said that there was a \u201cperfect storm\u201d of challenges facing the company over the past four years. He said that the restructuring should not have \u201cany operational impact\u201d on the company, noting that \u201ctrade and other unsecured creditors will not be impaired.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWhile our transformation has enhanced our competitive position, the perfect storm of sustained macroeconomic challenges over the past four years facing the traditional advertising market has led to a sharp reduction of several billion dollars in cumulative radio ad spending,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He added that those factors \u201cseverely impacted our financial condition and necessitated our balance sheet restructuring.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The company\u2019s announcement said it began its prepackaged Chapter 11 proceedings in the Southern District of Texas on Sunday.
