If President Joe Biden \u2014 who has polled as the least popular president<\/a> in modern history \u2014 is reelected in 2024, his top priority on day one of his second term is the killing of the unborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an interview on NBC\u2019s Meet the Press<\/em> on Sunday, Biden deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said Biden would prioritize abortion and restoring Roe v. Wade <\/em>on the first day of his second term. When the Supreme Court issued its Dobbs<\/em> decision<\/a> in June of 2022, it overturned Roe v. Wade<\/em>, a 1973 decision that had invented the Constitutional \u201cright\u201d to abortion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou talk about democracy being on the ballot. Some top Democratic lawmakers say, \u2018Okay, good to be focused on former President Trump, but you\u2019ve got to talk about what a second Biden agenda would look like.\u2019 What would on day one President Biden\u2019s top priority be?\u201d NBC\u2019s Kristen Welker asked<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, look, the president announced this campaign with the moniker of \u2018Finish the job, and protecting freedom and democracy.\u2019 So when we talk about that, let\u2019s look at it. First of all, Roe<\/em>,\u201d Fulks replied. \u201cThe president has been adamant that we need to restore Roe<\/em>. It is unfathomable that women today wake up in a country with less rights than their ancestors had years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fulks said Biden would also prioritize gun violence by \u201cban[ing]<\/a> assault weapons and high-capacity magazines<\/a>,\u201d and would work on lowering the costs of prescription medications and forgiving student loan debt \u2014 a promise<\/a> from his first campaign that has so far proven<\/a> fruitless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Democrats have made abortion central to campaigns across the countries since the Dobbs<\/em> decision, painting the issue as one of freedom rather than one of life and death. In June, Biden\u2019s former White House chief of staff Ron Klain predicted<\/a> to Politico <\/em>that abortion is \u201cgoing to be a major theme in the 2024 campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re going to have a Democrat, Joe Biden, who has stood up for a woman\u2019s right to choose and is pushing for federal legislation to restore Roe v. Wade<\/em> as the law of the land against a Republican who obviously has a very different point of view,\u201d Klain said, adding that abortion would be lumped in with other issues like LGBTQ<\/a> rights and so-called book banning<\/a> with the aim of contrasting Democrats with \u201cMAGA Republicans trying to roll back those freedoms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
