A 15-year-old Kansas high schooler has been charged after he was filmed attacking a Black student in the hallway, calling her the N-word and punching her in the face in an attack that left her with a broken nose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fight happened Nov. 15 at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Video<\/a> of the incident shows sophomore Brey\u2019anna Brown saying, \u201cWalk away. Don\u2019t say nothing unless you\u2019re going to come say it to my face, because I\u2019m not going to do it with you,\u201d toward a student walking away behind her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That teen is heard responding, \u201cMan shut the f— up.\u201d Several students near Brown are heard asking in shock, \u201cWho said that?\u201d and Brown doubles back to approach him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The male, who appeared to be white, then turned around and said, \u201cme\u201d and the N-word twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He took off his backpack and walked aggressively toward Brown, pushed her, and the two started throwing punches, hitting each other in the face multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The assault lasted for around 20 seconds and was broken up by adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The male student, whom NBC News is not naming because he is a minor and has not spoken out publicly, was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery. A criminal complaint stated he \u201cknowingly cause[d] great bodily harm to another person or disfigurement of another person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n His first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 6.
