A US Republican lawmaker has sparked outrage for making a \u201cchilling call for genocide\u201d of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During a debate in the state legislature about calling for an end to Israel\u2019s brutal war on the Gaza Strip, the Democratic Florida state representative Angie Nixon asked, \u201cWe are at 10,000 dead Palestinians. How many will be enough?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Republican state lawmaker Michelle Salzman replied, \u201cAll of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nixon expressed shock by hearing the comment, saying, \u201cOne of my colleagues just said, \u2018All of them.\u2019 Wow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Florida state House later voted 104-2 to reject Nixon\u2019s resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida) vehemently denounced Salzman\u2019s remark as a \u201cchilling call for genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The civil rights group said in a statement that Salzman\u2019s remark was a \u201cdirect result of decades of dehumanization of the Palestinian people by advocates of Israeli apartheid and their eager enablers in government and the media.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSalzman\u2019s words are incredibly dangerous and dehumanizing to Palestinians here at home and under the Israeli occupation,\u201d said the CAIR-Florida executive director, Imam Abdullah Jaber, adding that Salzman \u201cmust face her party\u2019s censure and a public repudiation from all Florida legislators.\u201d
The US says it is still not drawing any red lines for Israel, which has killed more than 10,000 people during a yet-ongoing war against the Gaza Strip.
The Florida Democratic Party condemned Salzman’s “reckless” comment in a statement Friday night, saying, “No elected official in any chamber in the United States of America should advocate for the death of civilians.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The United States is under fire for blocking a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip \u2014 one of the most densely populated places in the world \u2014 which has been under relentless air and ground attacks by Israeli forces since October 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tel Aviv waged its war on the besieged territory after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm into the occupied territories in response to the occupying regime\u2019s intensified crimes against the Palestinian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 11,078 people, including over 4,500 children, have so far been killed in the attacks, according to health authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
