NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupied the lobby of The New York Times on Thursday, demanding an immediate cease-fire in Gaza while accusing the media of showing a bias toward Israel in its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest in a series of near-nightly demonstrations since the start of the war saw thousands march through Midtown Manhattan to protest Israel\u2019s attacks on Gaza. At around 5 p.m., a small group of demonstrators led by media workers calling themselves \u201cWriters Bloc\u201d entered the atrium of the Times building carrying a banner calling for a cease-fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They remained for over an hour, reading off the names of thousands of Palestinians killed in Gaza, including at least 36 journalists whose deaths have been confirmed since the war began. They scattered editions of a mock newspaper \u2014 \u201cThe New York War Crimes\u201d \u2014 that charged the media with \u201ccomplicity in laundering genocide\u201d and called on The Times\u2019 editorial board to publicly back a cease-fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Photos showed the word \u201cLies\u201d painted across the doors of the Times headquarters. It wasn\u2019t immediately clear if anyone was arrested during the sit-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
