{"id":18758,"date":"2023-10-08T04:00:20","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T09:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=18758"},"modified":"2023-10-08T04:00:25","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T09:00:25","slug":"despicable-nyc-felony-assaults-on-women-jump-41-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=18758","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Despicable\u2019: NYC Felony Assaults on Women Jump 41 Percent"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The number of physical attacks on women in New York City has increased, and those targeted are deeply concerned.<br>The number of such instances has surged 41 percent in the past four years, the\u00a0New York Post\u00a0reported\u00a0Saturday, citing NYPD data.<br>Through Oct. 1 this year, 2,830 women have been the victims of felony assault, excluding domestic violence, compared to 2,006 just four years ago,\u201d the article reads.<br>The attacks have increased 5 percent from the same time frame in 2022, when 2,699 women became victims of felony assault.<br>In May 2022, a woman was\u00a0assaulted\u00a0on a New York City subway while bystanders tried to avoid the situation. Later, in September 2022, a Queens woman was\u00a0targeted\u00a0and brutally beaten by a homeless ex-convict.<br>Reports said at the time the woman was in danger of losing the sight in one of her eyes as a result.<br>The victim, identified as Elizabeth Gomes, later said, \u201cAnd it\u2019s just so sad that even though we try to avoid it,\u00a0these things still happen to us. I still can\u2019t put that day together. I don\u2019t even know.\u201d<br>According to the recent\u00a0Post\u00a0article, one woman who three weeks ago was sucker-punched by a stranger in the West 4th Street subway station said it felt like men hated them.<br>The report continued, \u201cShe ripped ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio and his comrades for pushing to empty the city\u2019s jails during the pandemic and lashed out at city pols for passing legislation to cut down on the number of people in custody as part of its goal to close Rikers Island.\u201d<br>Some of those targeted laid blame at the feet of city and state politicians for failing to offer sufficient help to people addicted to drugs and the mentally ill, a move that might lower the chances of those individuals behaving violently and hurting others.<br>The news regarding felony assaults comes as more of New York City\u2019s police officers are\u00a0heading\u00a0for the exit as crime ravages the area.<br>Social media users commented on the\u00a0Post\u2018s story, one individual\u00a0writing, \u201cEnd No Cash Bail and fire all Soro\u2019s funded DA\u2019s and Mayors and give the police all the money and tools they need!\u201d<br>\u201cNot surprised. It\u2019s getting to Mad Max proportions out here.
