President Biden on Thursday expressed his admiration for the \u201cCongressional Black Caucus\u201d during a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in his latest head-scratching moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gaffe came as he delivered a speech in Washington at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute\u2019s 46th Annual Gala. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biden, 80, celebrated gala award recipient Sister Norma Pimental, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, right before the blunder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI know Sister Norma lives the lessons nuns taught me growing up. Lessons based on the Gospel of Matthew: Feed the hungry, care for the sick, welcome strangers,\u201d the president said. \u201cThey echo what my dad taught me, and I mean this sincerely, my dad used to say, \u2018Everyone, everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Congressional Black Caucus embodies all those values,\u201d he added, without stopping to correct himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biden\u2019s latest verbal mistake comes a week after he was ripped for inferring that African American and Hispanic workers don\u2019t have \u201chigh school diplomas.\u201d<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019ve seen record lows in unemployment particularly \u2014 and I\u2019ve focused on this my whole career \u2014 particularly for African Americans and Hispanic workers and veterans, you know, the workers without high school diplomas,\u201d he said during an event at Prince George\u2019s Community College in Maryland last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Biden boasted Thursday about the number of Hispanic members in his cabinet and took credit for \u201crecord low\u201d Latino unemployment and other economic gains in the Hispanic community under his watch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He also accused Republicans of \u201cgutting the immigration system\u201d during former President Donald Trump\u2019s time in office and continuing to \u201cundermine our border security today, blocking bipartisan reform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Biden looked over to both sides of the stage after concluding his remarks, and he put his palms up as he appeared to ask someone off-camera for directions on which way to exit the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
