{"id":17619,"date":"2023-09-08T06:28:48","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T11:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=17619"},"modified":"2023-09-08T06:28:51","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T11:28:51","slug":"comer-i-do-believe-we-have-the-votes-for-impeachment-inquiry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=17619","title":{"rendered":"Comer: \u2018I do believe we have the votes for impeachment inquiry\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">House Oversight Chair\u00a0James Comer\u2002(R-Ky.) said on Thursday he thinks there are enough votes in the House to vote to open an impeachment inquiry of\u00a0President Biden,\u00a0predicting the vote will be held in the middle of this month.<br>\u201cI do believe that we have the votes for impeachment inquiry,\u201d Comer said in an interview on Newsmax.<br>Comer, who is leading a congressional investigation into Biden\u2019s family and business dealings, said he thinks the emails he\u2019s been able to secure from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) from Biden\u2019s time as vice president finally convinced the final few Republicans to support opening an impeachment inquiry.<br>\u201cI think that was the straw that broke the camel\u2019s back with a few of the Republicans that were a little nervous about going the route of impeachment inquiry,\u201d Comer said about the NARA records. \u201cThey realized that we need this tool to be able to win in court because that\u2019s where we\u2019re headed. We\u2019ve just about picked all the low-hanging fruit.\u201d<br>Comer\u2019s remarks come as momentum has been building among House Republicans to hold a vote on an impeachment inquiry into the president. So far, investigations into Biden and his family have not implicated the president in any illegal activity, but Comer and other House GOP leaders argue an impeachment inquiry would provide the necessary tools to properly investigate.\u00a0<br>In the interview Thursday, Comer said Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) would ultimately decide on the timing of a potential impeachment inquiry vote, and he said both he and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) have discussed the matter with the Speaker. Comer said he expects a vote in the middle of September. The House returns from August recess next week.\u00a0<br>\u201cI would predict that in the middle of September, we have a vote.
