US entrepreneur and a candidate in the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries Vivek Ramaswamy has been outspoken about not supporting providing additional funding to Ukraine, believing that the United States should negotiate an end to the conflict, and any peace deal ought to include guarantees Kiev will not join NATO.
US businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, a candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination, contends that only he and former President Donald Trump are not determined to thrust the US closer towards the precipice of \u201cWorld War III.\u201d
The former Indian-American tech entrepreneur who entered the GOP 2024 presidential race as a longshot but has since been gaining polling traction also ripped into other challengers for the GOP nomination, describing them, with the exception of Trump, as diehard \u201cneocons.\u201d
\u201cI believe in asserting American interests, but only where it advances the US interest. I\u2019m very different from other candidates who would sooner send troops to defend invasion across somebody else\u2019s border than the invasion on our own southern border in this country,\u201d Ramaswamy said on the show America Reports on Friday.
Use of the term \u201cneocons,\u201d describing hawkish conservatives supporting military intervention had peaked with then-POTUS George W. Bush and his advisers. By \u201cneocons,\u201d Ramaswamy, fresh from the first Republican presidential primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in this case appeared to refer to his opponent Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, former senior advisor and deputy chief of staff of the George W. Bush\u2019s administration, Karl Rove, and other GOP hopefuls.
\u201cI worry that many in the neocon establishment are quietly marching us into World War III, serious armed conflict with other nuclear powers, including the combination of the Russia-China alliance,\u201d Ramaswamy stated.
The novice candidate added that, \u201cforeign policy distinguishes me from the Karl Rove, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Chris Christie wing \u2013 and I think that debate is good for our party.\u201d
Vivek Ramaswamy has repeatedly underscored on earlier occasions that the US should negotiate an end to the Ukraine conflict. An opponent of funding the NATO proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, he has stressed that any peace deal ought to include guarantees Kiev will not join the alliance.
“I do think that it’s sort of getting to peace quickly and ending and reaching a peaceful resolution where we make among other things, a hard commitment that NATO will not admit Ukraine to NATO is absolutely a must and an imperative,” Vivek told Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk during an online conversation on the tech guru’s X platform.
\u201cI think there\u2019s a chance that if we enter war with nuclear, allied Russia and China, the United States as we know it, we may take a risk of it ceasing to exist,\u201d Ramaswamy said in an interview with Tucker Carlson.
The United States lacks nuclear defense capabilities and security efforts have not been focused on homeland defense for a long time, Ramaswamy added, noting Washington is incentivizing China to pursue unilateral reunification with Taiwan by driving Beijing closer to Moscow and cementing a military alliance between them.
During the previously cited America Reports show, Ramaswamy was asked by the hosts as to what sets him apart from the GOP 2024 frontrunner, Trump, to which the billionaire replied that, \u201cWe have some areas of differences but they are small.”
Ramaswamy underscored that he and Trump were “America first candidates, everybody else embraces the neocon view.\u201d In a lighter vein, he then quipped:
