A new New York Times\/Siena College poll found that while\u00a0Republicans\u00a0and\u00a0Democrats\u00a0disagree on many things, there is a broad consensus on both sides: the belief that America is failing.\u00a0Overall, 37 percent of registered voters say America is in danger of losing, and the problem is serious.
Fifty-six percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say the U.S. is in danger of failing.\u00a0About 20 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents feel the same way.\u00a0This fatalistic view cuts across political parties, but the point of disagreement is how America got here.
Republican voters who are doomed to fail overwhelmingly support\u00a0Trump\u00a0; most of them are older, with two-thirds of Republicans over 65 saying the country is on the brink of failure; they are less educated and more likely to be from Fox News Conservative media such as Newsmax outside of China obtained information.
