{"id":15827,"date":"2023-07-22T02:50:03","date_gmt":"2023-07-22T07:50:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=15827"},"modified":"2023-07-22T02:50:18","modified_gmt":"2023-07-22T07:50:18","slug":"judge-sets-a-trial-date-for-next-may-in-trumps-classified-documents-case-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=15827","title":{"rendered":"Judge sets a trial date for next May in Trump\u2019s classified documents case in Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 A federal judge in Florida has scheduled a trial date for next May for former President Donald Trump in a case charging him with illegally retaining hundreds of classified documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The May 20, 2024, trial date, set Friday by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, is a compromise between a request from prosecutors to set the trial for this December and a bid by defense lawyers to put it off indefinitely until sometime after the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the date holds, it would follow close on the heels of a separate New York trial for Trump on dozens of state charges of falsifying business records in connection with an alleged hush money payment to a porn actor.
