Changes to Cannabis Law Take Effect Around the U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thanks to your advocacy, activism, and support, dozens of new marijuana laws took effect around the country this month:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/06\/23\/maryland-adult-use-marijuana-legalization-laws-take-effect-next-week\/\">Maryland<\/a>, cannabis possession, personal cultivation, and retail sales are now legal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/06\/28\/connecticut-law-change-permitting-adults-to-home-cultivate-cannabis-takes-effect-on-saturday\/\">Connecticut<\/a>, adults may now cultivate marijuana at home for personal use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/07\/05\/virginia-changes-to-medical-cannabis-laws-take-effect\/\">Virginia<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/news\/2023\/06\/29\/nevada-governor-signs-legislation-raising-marijuana-possession-limits\/\">Nevada<\/a>, multiple medical cannabis program improvements were implemented<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/news\/2023\/06\/29\/new-hampshire-medical-cannabis-reciprocity-law-takes-effect\/\">New Hampshire<\/a>, out-of-state patients are now able to access state-licensed medical dispensaries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/07\/06\/california-addresses-90-of-cannabis-cases-in-expungement-efforts\/\">California<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/06\/16\/louisiana-governor-signs-marijuana-expungement-legislation-into-law\/\">Louisiana<\/a>, efforts to expunge thousands of prior cannabis offenses are underway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/06\/14\/maine-lawmakers-advance-legislation-protecting-cannabis-use-while-on-probation\/\">Maine<\/a>, legislation limiting the ability for those on probation to be drug tested for cannabis has become law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And, earlier this year,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/news\/2023\/04\/27\/delaware-becomes-the-22nd-state-to-legalize-marijuana-for-adults\/\">Delaware<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/05\/30\/minnesota-becomes-the-23rd-legal-marijuana-state\/\">Minnesota<\/a>&nbsp;legalized adult-use marijuana and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/blog\/2023\/03\/31\/kentucky-becomes-the-38th-state-to-enact-comprehensive-medical-cannabis-access\/\">Kentucky<\/a>&nbsp;legalized medical cannabis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are still critical efforts underway around the country that need support:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/ohio-legalize-adult-use-marijuana\/\">Ohio<\/a>, a marijuana legalization bill is currently awaiting a committee hearing and subsequent vote<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/north-carolina-adult-use-and-medical-access-efforts\/\">North Carolina<\/a>, medical cannabis legalization legislation is gaining momentum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/california-allow-cannabis-lounges-to-prepare-and-sell-food\/\">California<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/connecticut-legislation-to-establish-cannabis-cafes-and-restaurants\/\">Connecticut<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/maine-cannabis-hospitality-establishments\/\">Maine<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/news\/2023\/01\/26\/new-jersey-officials-move-forward-with-plans-for-cannabis-consumption-lounges\/\">New Jersey<\/a>&nbsp;legislatures are working to establish social venues where legal cannabis may be consumed privately by patients and of-age adults<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/california-expand-ryans-law-protections-to-seniors-with-chronic-pain\/\">California<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/norml.org\/act\/pennsylvania-legislation-to-expand-medical-cannabis-to-include-edibles-2\/\">Pennsylvania<\/a>, bills expanding access to medical cannabis program are awaiting legislative action<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While millions of Americans are celebrating cannabis freedom, there are still millions more suffering under the draconian policies of marijuana prohibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
