Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Wednesday on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box\u201d that it would be a \u201cdisaster\u201d if the Republican Party nominated former President Donald Trump in 2024 and \u201cdangerous\u201d if he wins, which would be possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Discussing Trump Tuesday night at the Aspen Ideas Festival, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said, \u201cIt\u2019s really important for Democrats to take him seriously. There can be a tendency for people on the Democratic side to say, \u2018Well, look, sure, the Republicans will nominee hm the Republicans are a mess but we\u2019ll be able to beat him in a general. And that is playing with fire. It\u2019s a risk we can\u2019t take. So I think it\u2019s really important for everyone to look at the treat that he posses outside of party ideology. it\u2019s something we got to take very seriously and stand against.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Host Joe Kernen said, \u201cTalk about who the Trump and who the Republicans can run.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ryan said, \u201cIt is a disaster if we nominate Trump. You know I think that, I have been saying that for a long time. But Liz in right which is, that he could win. I think we lose with him. I think we are much more likely to loose. We haven\u2019t won with him since he first won in 16. We lost the House in \u201918, the presidency in \u201920, the Senate in \u201920 and we could have won the Senate in 2022 but for him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued, \u201cI\u2019m for anybody not named Trump right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ryan added, \u201cI\u2019m a never again Trumper so obviously the 33 % base doesn\u2019t like a person like me. I\u2019m very clear, I don\u2019t think he\u2019s fit and I don\u2019t think he could win. Liz is right, he could and that is dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
