{"id":14169,"date":"2023-06-21T04:30:15","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T09:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=14169"},"modified":"2023-06-21T04:30:20","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T09:30:20","slug":"gop-support-for-trump-waning-after-his-second-indictment-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=14169","title":{"rendered":"GOP support for Trump waning after his second indictment: poll"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Republican support for former President Donald Trump has dipped since he was charged with 37 felony counts related to his alleged&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/19\/trump-i-wanted-to-get-all-my-personal-things-out-of-classified-doc-boxes-and-i-was-very-busy\/\">mishandling and concealment of classified White House documents<\/a>, according to a new poll.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/20\/politics\/cnn-poll-trump-indictment-republicans-2024\/index.html\">CNN poll<\/a>, released on Tuesday and conducted entirely after the 77-year-old former president\u2019s arraignment in a Miami, Fla., federal court, shows that both support for his 2024 presidential candidacy and positive views of him among Republican and Republican-leaning voters have declined compared to last month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey found that&nbsp;47% of Republicans and Republican-leaning registered voters say Trump is their first choice for the GOP\u2019s standard bearer in 2024, down from 53% in May.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comparison, support for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis remained unchanged since last month, with 26% supporting the governor of the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Vice President Mike Pence increased his share of support from 6% in May to 9% in CNN\u2019s latest poll, while former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley dropped 1 point to 5% support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott received 4% support and former New Jersey Gov.
