{"id":13005,"date":"2023-06-05T03:38:31","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T08:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=13005"},"modified":"2023-06-05T03:38:41","modified_gmt":"2023-06-05T08:38:41","slug":"police-raise-alarm-as-dozens-of-children-go-missing-in-ohio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=13005","title":{"rendered":"Police Raise Alarm as Dozens of Children Go Missing in Ohio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Police in Cleveland, Ohio are raising the alarm over a sudden spike in children being reported missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Newburgh Heights Police Chief John Majoy has revealed that at least 27 children have been reported missing in just two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The alarming spike of missing children was reported between May 2 and May 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Majoy, who also serves as the board president for the organization Cleveland Missing, has expressed deep concern over the rising number of disappearances among children aged 12 to 17, describing the situation as reaching \u201cunprecedented levels\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s always peaks and valleys with missing persons, but this year it seems like an extraordinary year,\u201d Majoy told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor some reason, in 2023, we\u2019ve seen a lot more than we normally see, which is troubling in part because we don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with some of these kids, whether they\u2019re being trafficked or whether they\u2019re involved in gang activity or drugs,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent reported that the police chief fears that young teenagers could also have fallen victim to predators, who could be \u201cwolves in sheep\u2019s clothing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of mid-May, there were a total of 56 active missing children cases in Cleveland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the disappearances do not make the news unless there is an Amber Alert, he lamented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that solving the cases becomes difficult because often there is a lack of photos of the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Majoy emphasized that he has never seen such high numbers of missing children in his 33-year career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a silent crime that happens right under our noses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe problem is where are they?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhere do they go?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey can be in a drug house or farmed to prostitution or caught up in drug trafficking or gangs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, more than 15,000 children were reported in Ohio, with four that were found dead, according to the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abductions amounted to 8,525 of the cases, with 34 cases stemming from abductions by a noncustodial parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only five of the children had a stranger kidnap them, according to a report by the state\u2019s Attorney General Dave Yost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police were able to find 36 percent of the children, but 615 went into 2023 still missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/slaynews.com\/news\/police-raise-alarm-dozens-children-missing-ohio\/\">Slaynews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Cleveland, Ohio are raising the alarm over a sudden spike in children being reported missing.
